My name is Patricia (Patty) Weakly, and I am so honored and excited to be the new Director of the New Song Christian Academy. I am originally from Illinois but have lived in Las Vegas for 30 years now, so I consider myself a “local”. I hold a BA in Elementary Education as well as a BA in Social Services from the University of Illinois – Springfield Campus. I have worked for many years in the field of education beginning as a Social Services Coordinator for a Preschool Program for the University of Illinois and then continuing on to elementary teaching. I have taught Kindergarten, First Grade, been a Primary Reading Specialist, Reading Interventionist and Special Eduation teacher. In 2006, I moved on to Administration serving first as a Center Director for a PreK-3rd Grade private school and then moving on to being a Principal at both a Charter and Private School in Henderson. Most recently, I have been a Field Supervisor for student teachers and also provide private tutoring for students in grades PreK-3rd. I have three amazing children and three grandchildren who are the center of my universe! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family, traveling, reading and love my word games and puzzles! I am so looking forward to getting to know each and every one of you and your precious children.
I am Birgit Drowanowski and I have been teaching here at NSCA for eight years. I have 14 years of teaching experience. I am a German native and have taught kindergarten prior to my move to the USA in the late 90’s. I obtained my teaching degree from Germany as well as an early childhood education degree from the USA and have an associate degree in Psychology. I love teaching preschool, as young children are eager to learn, explore, experience , and witness new things. Seeing that smile and connection when I help a child learn something new and setting a strong foundation that will prepare them for kindergarten is very rewarding. In my off time I like to spend time with my husband, two daughters and our many rescue pets.
I have been working at New Song Christian Academy since 2012 as the teachers’s aide in the 3 year old class and the 4 year old class . I grew up in Southern California and have been a resident of the Anthem community with my husband and our daughter since 2003. I hold a degree in General Studies from Moorpark College Ca. I had always been actively involved in my daughter’s schools from being the room parent to PTA. I had also been a soccer mom for 13 years and the team manager for my daughter’s competitive soccer club. My daughter now attends UNLV. I enjoy my free time with my family and our pets. It’s a wonderful feeling to have that connection with the kids and families and to set a good foundation that will prepare them for kindergarten and most of all they leave New Song with the love of learning!
Wendy is so excited to be coming on board as a teacher for the Jr-Kindergarten class at New Song Christian Academy. Wendy has had many different experiences working with children from running her own home daycare, working as a Girl Scout leader, volunteering at her children’ schools and teaching at Good Samaritan Christian Academy. Wendy loves teaching preschool age children as they explore and learn new things every day. She moved with her family to Henderson from Southern California in 2007. Wendy enjoys spending time outdoors camping and hiking with her husband, Adam, and her children Megan and Brandon. She is fortunate to have this opportunity to work with your children and to get to know the families this school year.
My professional training and experience has given me the tools necessary to create an enriching learning environment and provide active learning opportunities for kindergarten students to internalize learning. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. I then continued my studies at UNLV and earned my Master’s degree in Education, with an emphasis in Special Education. I have worked in the field of early childhood education for 10 years. I have a supportive husband and two fantastic boys. We moved to the Anthem area of Henderson 11 years ago and we absolutely love this community!
