BLANKET DRIVE UPDATE
We have a worthy goal of 100 blankets for “Friends in the Desert.” They will be blessed on Sunday, September 8th and delivered to St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in downtown Henderson.
It has come to our attention that the need is so great RIGHT NOW that we should bring blankets as soon as we have them ready. Teresa, who runs all aspects of the “Friends” program, gets daily requests for a blanket, even though the weather is so hot. So please feel free to bring your blanket donations to church at any time. New blankets are welcome up to queen size, used blankets can be quilts, comforters, and regular.
***THE BLANKETS MUST BE CLEAN***
Twin size bedspreads like sports teams, super heroes, princesses are perfect.
My pledge to this project is to make a delivery every time we have 8 to 10 blankets for them. So please search your linen closets, under the beds, storage benches. You get the picture.
Let’s show them, once again, how generous New Song can be!
Sharing with others reminds us just how blessed we are.

The labyrinth is located behind New Song Church. During office hours, walk down the hallway to the right, exit through the door at the end of the hall. Follow the paved sidewalk to the left until you arrive at the labyrinth. After hours, follow the pathway to the right of the church, which wraps around the building.
Guide to Walking the Labyrinth
Micah 6:8 encourages us to “walk humbly” with our God. The labyrinth provides an opportunity for such a walk. While there is no right or wrong way to pray the labyrinth, the following may serve as a guide to your labyrinth walk:
Preparation:
Entering the labyrinth can be a “mini-Sabbath,” a break from the stressors of daily living. Leave personal belongings on the bench nearby. Free your hands, and your soul, from that which can weigh you down. Select a prayer which can be repeated on your journey, for example, “I am the way, and the truth and the life,” or, “Jesus loves me.”
Entrance:
As you begin to walk, let your mind be open to the Spirit. Walk at a natural pace, certainly not hurried. If you have selected a prayer repetition, recite it silently as the Spirit leads. If you are going through a personal struggle, allow God to speak and guide you. You may notice the beauty of God’s creation around you. Enjoy it!
At the Center:
Eventually, you will arrive at the center of the labyrinth. Rest at the center of God’s grace. You are embraced and enveloped by the love of Jesus. The Spirit will guide you to begin your return.
The Return:
Continue the natural pace as you begin the return journey. Even as the mini-Sabbath is near over, be thankful for each step, each moment. As you depart, continue to walk humbly with your God out in the world.
